UNIONS ARE A MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR PER YEAR INDUSTRY
Today's unions are a multi-billion dollar per year industry that charges workers a "fee" (called union dues) to act as an "agent" on the job. The vast majority of today's union members are "compulsory members" in that they never voted for unionization.
In fact, the majority of today's union members became union members because they had to at their place of employment or they would be fired under a union (income) security clause. For more information about mandatory union payments, go here.
Today's unions collect an estimated $10 billion dollars per year from employees in the form of dues and fees, while spending nearly $16 million per day on union payrolls.
Where does the money go? Most employees (and even many union members) do not realize that the dues and fees that are paid to a union go to fund often-exhorbitant salaries and "perks" of the union bosses and their staffs, as well as the benefits and retirement of these people. As most unions are headquartered in Washington, DC, most unions have lush office buildings, and several even own golf resorts—all paid for by the dues of union members.
With most union presidents raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars every year, unionized workers help pay the salaries, benefits and even retirement packages of these union bosses.
