THE UNDERMINERS: HOW UNION MOLES BURROW INTO COMPANIES

How a Union Mole works:

    1. Usually a union mole's assignment is between three and six months
    2. The mole gets a job at the ‘target company’
    3. The mole feeds information back to the union
    4. The mole's job is also to befriend the employees, while the union mole hides his or her real position with the union, sometimes even loaning money or offering rides
    5. The mole develops profiles on the employees
    6. The mole focuses on finding out employee issues
    7. Start selling the union to the workers
    8. When the union surfaces, it is the union mole that will often make telephone calls or home visits to employees' homes.
    9. Once the company becomes unionized, the union mole typically moves on to his or her next assignment.
Note: According to public records, one Union Mole was recently paid more than $40,000 to attempt to unionize a Wisconsin company.
Union Moles are often paid by the authorization cards they get signed.

Below is an example of how one union recruits Union Moles.  As you can see, this union is willing to pay up to $30 per signed union authorization card.  From the union's perspective, the economic justification for $30 per authorization card is easily understood, since the union will recoup its investment by the second month of collecting dues from each worker.
